However, Flowers for Algernon first appeared as a short story in the April 1959 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. The short story won the Hugo Award for Best Short Story in 1960 and the much-expanded novel was joint winner of the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1966. A very rare item.
